Classical Guitar
This is a nylon-stringed instrument typically used to perform classical style music.
Acoustic Guitar
This is a steel-stringed instrument, typically but not always played unamplified.
Mandolin
This is a small, eight-stringed instrument of the lute family, typically used in folk, bluegrass and Celtic music.
Irish Tenor Banjo
This is a four-stringed banjo typically used in Celtic music.
Bass Guitar
This usually has four metal strings over a solid body. Although mostly amplified, acoustic basses are easily obtainable.
Ukulele
This four-stringed member of the lute family is a 19th-century Hawaiian adaptation of the Portuguese ‘machete’.
Rock Guitar
A style of guitar that came from the blues music of the early 20th century and has evolved to encompass many diverse styles and techniques.
Jazz Guitar
This musical style combines challenging chordal accompaniment with lead improvisation rooted in the early band music of the 20th century.
